tribe goals.

Once again, I'm linking up with Andrea for a show and tell Tuesday. Todays theme is about our tribes.

Man. This is going to be a tough post. I've never been a girls girl. Always the girl with more boy friends, than girl friends. The best friend I ever had was a boy. A lot of girl friendships come with pettiness and jealousy. I don't have time for that.

I had a great group of girlfriends in High School. We didn't have any classes together or even go to the same school, but we were always together. Mostly at someones house, watching movies, going on late night drives through the city. When you're young, it easier for friendships to last. Were in the sam english class, she's my neighbor, we both really love the same band.

As you get older, you grow, you learn who you are and come into your own. One of the downsides of this, is the friendship casualties. I chose not to go to college, honestly I didn't have the grades. Friends joined sororities, started dating people the others didn't know, studied abroad, had a baby(me).

sorry for the crappy quality. circa 2003.

We grew and I drifted away. I'm friends with a lot of them on Facebook. It's been such a joy to watch them succeed. Get amazing jobs, fall in love, get promoted, get married. I miss them everyday.

With change, comes new friendships.

My little lover. Leah and I met in high school, we were summer camp counselors together. We kept in touch and one day, she posted a 3 month belly bump pic on Myspace. I texted her and said, funny story, I'm pregnant too. The rest is history. Our boys are best friends. She's my rock, she'll talk me down whenever I'm about to lose my shit. I do the same for her. She's so thoughtful and smart. Sometimes I don't think were anything alike but we fit perfectly.

My little baby Frida. Her real name is Felicia. We met waiting tables. Literally looked at each other and became best friends. She's such an amazing friend, we've been on vacation together, been through heartbreak together, fought, made up. Been black out drunk, done stalkerish activities together. She lives in Oregon now :( We don't get to talk as much as we would like, but we love each other fiercely and always have each others backs.

The move to Texas was a tough one. I'm different than a lot of the women out here. I've made a few friends, other moms with kids, but it wasn't until this past year that I've made some great girlfriends.

Were just missing Shelby

I'd share some of our group chat, but I'm no snitch. I love being able to talk to them about things that matter, politics, rape, body image, as well as superficial stuff.

So now that I'm done rambling, I think its important to remember that your tribe shifts, it changes, it takes breaks.

Thanks Andrea for the fun linkup!
